A bull riding competition in Rochester, Minn.
Each rider paid $100 to participate and the house put up an additional $4,000 for a total purse of $10,000, which was split up among the top three riders each night at the weekend-long event.
Ty Redman, from Easton, Missouri, takes a moment to pray before the Bull Riding Challenge at Graham Arena Complex in Rochester. After being thrown from a bull, Redman took a hoof to the chest and recieved medical attention from paramedics.
Riders must stay on the bull for eight seconds in order to receive a score, at which time judges take the riders' performances and the difficulty that each bull presents into account.

There's no sense in getting hooked for no reason," said the clown. The contestant with the American flag vest immediately texted his mother to tell her that he loved her.
Four men sit at a folding table with their palms down when an angry bull is released into the arena. The last man with a hand on the table won a free pair of wrangler jeans.
